Short project description

We selected 12 sites in forest, preforest and shrubland without the invasive ant Wasmannia auropunctata and 12 sites in similar habitat but invaded by the invasive ant.

Full project description

This project aimed to demonstrate the decrease in acoustic activity (especially crickets calls) in New Caledonian soundscapes due to the presence of Wasmnannia auropuncata, an invasive ant impacting the local fauna including crickets. It is important to remember that every stero recordings collected in 2013 were made at different height from the ground: 1.5 m for the left channel and 30 m for the right channel. The recordings collected in 2018 were all made at 1.5 m from the ground.
